This has become my favorite coffee shop in Johnson County, maybe my fave in the KC metro. It's tucked in a strip mall near McDonald's across the street from JCCC. It's relatively small, but usually a seat can be found. That said, if you come on a weekend morning, expect to stand in line for a few minutes because they have a strong following of regulars. I don't drink anything but straight black coffee. The owners are from Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, and they know how to roast and brew it right. They also have a small selection of excellent baked items; better than the typical coffee shop quality. If you live in Johnson County, you owe yourself a trip to Revocup. Enjoy!

Simply the best bean in the city, but you have to pay for it. We all know that sometimes our drink can be a little off sometimes, and when it costs as much as it does here, it hurts even more. Due to this, I don't get a drink here regularly anymore, but it is a great treat when I do.

Was very disappointed. I ordered a cappuccino and it was water down and it tasted so acidy. The coffee tasted like expired coffee. I think The Roasterie and Starbucks is a lot better. I will not be coming back.

Revocup, why didn't I find you sooner? I often lust for this kind of spot in South JoCo and now I've found you, and conveniently off of I-435 where I blast by when coming into town. Very good espresso drinks, the real deal, and a fine house coffee, the beans roasted on premise. Friendly folks working and it's clear there are lots of regulars as they're greeted in a friendly manner at the counter, a few even got hugs. There's even an old fart/fartess coffee klatch of retirees working through whatever they chatter about. Today, some were festively dressed in plaid shorts and tennis shoes, golf shirts. Anticipate they're hitting the links later. The wireless was robust and I sucked it for close to two hours before heading out for lunch. Oh, and the cranberry white chocolate scone is clearly addictive. Yea, it's your typical mini-strip shopping area common to Johnson County but it's nicely done, casual, no pretense and no damn stuffed caribou or green/black/white signs with matching aprons. I'll be back. Don't sell that last cranberry white chocolate scone until I'm standing at the counter. I mean it!

This place knows coffee and will blow your socks off. The coffee is great and the service is friendly.

Kicking myself for not updating to five stars earlier. This is THE place to go for coffee in JOCO. Brewed coffee is the best I've had around town, lattes and espresso drinks are artfully crafted, and service comes with a smile and sometimes a story. Hurray for this small business. This is as good as it gets.

If your staying out of town and visiting Overland Park this is the place to get your coffee! The owner was awesome and the atmosphere was very chill. Great Place!

Not only does it not get better then this, REVOCUP may be the closest to doing things the right way. They take their time make the coffee right and most importantly they are involved in providing the best possible and sustainable expresso. The talent behind the barista's is easy to see. Take it from me this is worth forgetting about any convenience you may have through alternative coffee shops. #SUPPORTLOCAL

Great, great coffee. I was looking for a good local coffee place in OP while on the way out of town. Wow I'm glad I walked in. It's in a very unassuming strip mall, but don't let that fool you. The inside is totally a great, cozy, coffehouse feel. They have the regular stuff an a couple specials. I tried their raspberry mocha that was on the specials menu, and it was amazing. It tasted like coffee, not just like chocolate. The staff seemed friendly although I was only in here for several minutes. Great place and worth checking out if you are craving caffeine and are nearby.

Best espresso in town by far! I was first acquainted with this place by the Caffeine Crawl and I was blown away by their story. First off they have their own roaster and roast their own beans and are very knowledgable about where their coffee came from and the impact we have as consumers on the entire origin of the coffee. They give a decent chunk of their proceeds to all sorts of charities and organizations they truly believe in. They have a nice location next to the medical center and JCCC (which has a charge point btw) and the layout of the store is nice with ample chairs and tables for staying and working as well as a few comfy seats and a family style table. Speaking of family, the thing that blows me away most about this place it's it's all encompassing family atmosphere: the owners are the ones usually taking your order and making your drinks. They remember you and what you like and just overall care and it make for a extremely inviting atmosphere :). The brewed coffee is defiantly good and very flavorful. But it was that Genesis espresso that is the bomb! Get a classic macchiato and you can really taste the complexities the owner obviously spent a lot of energy perfecting. We are very lucky to have so many great coffee shops in Kansas City and this one really perfects that true neighborhood coffee house feel.

The coffee is far superior to Starbucks. It's smooth and strong, and the inside is great and comfortable. It can be hard to find a seat during peek time, but the owners are really friendly and the food delicious.

My first experience with this place was on a caffeine crawl around Kansas City. I now try to return here as often as possible. I immediately fell in love with this place. It's a very quaint shop that is run by an Ethiopian couple dedicated to providing the world with top-notch coffee. Their espresso is by far the best that I've had in town. If you are at all familiar with the coffee scene in Kansas City then you will know that this is an impressive feat. This couple roasts their own beans, which they buy from select farmers that they know and trust to produce only the best quality. They regularly give donations to charities and even the communities from which the coffee comes from. Coffee is a passion for these people, and it shows. Go see for yourself.

  • Richard M.

This is my favorite coffee place in town. They have fantastic whole beans, great coffee, warm and friendly owners and a philosophy of giving back to the coffee producing regions where they buy their beans. You can't beat that combination.

  • Jordan A.

Run by some genuinely kind people. I go every Friday morning and have enjoyed every experience. They have many coffees from South America and Africa. I don't know how they do it, but their coffee is like jet fuel, best caffeine buzz money can buy!!!

  • Gavin M.

This is hands down the finest coffee/espresso you will find in the area. I sometimes spend hours there just hanging out, drinking a delicious beverage. Awesome baristas and just generally a cool atmosphere. My favorite place to go alone or with friends.

    (5)
  • Kelly H.

The absolute best. I only drink decaf and theirs is amazing. The place is warm and friendly and the woman at the counter always asks about my family. My only suggestion would be to have more than one person working the counter. It's often the same person running the cash register and making the drinks, which can take a while. I still give it five stars because it's worth the wait. Get it in a mug to drink there and savor it!

I really feel the need to update the review of Revocup. I tell you what.........the more coffee shops I'm fortunate enough to visit throughout the midwest, Revocup is sitting on a hidden gem! The quality of their beans, drips, espresso's, pastries, atmosphere, Barista's, and most importantly the husband and wife owner truly sit this place apart. I recently returned after a few months and was amazed at the growing popularity of Revocup. Word has definitely spread throughout KC and surrounding area's. The place is louder and jam packed more than ever before. It was so loud on a recent Saturday morning that I had to crank up the volum on my headphones just to drown out the noise. Folks act giddy inside this place. Is there something in beans? It's extremely difficult to explain how smooth their drinks taste. I rarely add cream or sugar to any Revocup drink. The owner has the same type of relationship with his growers like the owner of PT's (Jeff) does. In fact, Revocup used to purchase their beans from PT's. Revocup has since went the direct trade route and they haven't missed a beat. Plain superb quality at Revocup and if you haven't been, you are really missing out on a true KC treasure.

Not only is their coffee the best in town (and it is), but they contribute 10% of their profits to help set up schools in Ethiopia. Their Quadzilla might be the best thing you can drink in the morning anywhere. Good for the taste buds, good for the soul.

Saw the great reviews on yelp and drove quite a ways to get there, since Olathe didn't have any good coffee places that were open on Sunday. Got all the way there to find a hand written sign on the door saying they were closed for the day for "a project." Would have been nice to post that somewhere else before I drove all the way out there; Yelp said they were open so I felt like it would be worth the drive. Turns out I wasted a half hour.

I have been looking for a good coffee place since I moved to KS, and I finally found one. Great quality beans, and not afraid to make my espresso drinks extra sweet upon request. The best part is that this place is in walking distance of my house. I keep meaning to grab my laptop and spend some time doing the hipster thing and getting some writing done. One of these days! In the meantime, it is an awesome place to stop and grab a drink as I rush off to run errands. Everyone I've met who works there has been friendly and chatty. Love it.

I am a coffee lover and wanted to branch out and try something other than my usual Starbucks. I came here to do homework and there are plenty of tables and comfy chairs with outlets. I got a sugar free vanilla latte and it was very good. The espresso has a very rich taste. I will be returning.

I really want to come back later when the owners are there. Overall it was a good experience, good coffee etc, but I would like to try a couple of blends and update my review.

They have many options for coffee and tea. I had a hot tea and a muffin. The tea was good, but not so many options for snacks. Free wifi, great music in the background. It's a cool little spot!

  • Zach H.

In a city where the coffee is really high quality, Revocup pales in comparison to places like Parisi and even The Roasterie. The barista was friendly enough. But the coffee was not good. Getting a pour over coffee is not even an option here. That was really a dealbreaker for me.

I love this place! I've been there more times since my previous review. I love all of their hot coffees and iced toddy. My boyfriend loves their iced mochas. Their bagels and sandwiches are good. Service is friendly. Sometimes I drive 20 minutes just to have a cup of their coffee. I have probably 10 other options closer.

I've spent many days doing homework here. It's a gem hidden in a strip mall. Their coffee is good and reasonably priced. The staff is kind and friendly. Wifi is free. What more could you want?

I ordered a single origin Ethiopian Harrar espresso shot personally prepared by the Revocup owner himself. It was FANTASTIC! Perfect temperature, foamy layer of crema with a velvety mouth feel and complex flavor profile. I think I found my new coffee home. It's safe to say the Ethiopian owner probably has the "hook up" when it comes to the best beans come harvest time. I will have to ask him the proper pronunciation of "Yirgacheffe" since I've heard several variations. ((((((((((( Related Items )))))))))))) Movie for anyone interested in the "true price" of coffee: blackgoldmovie.com I'm guessing this is where the Revocup logo takes it's inspiration: thefullpint.com/beer-rev…

  • Jacob H.

Best coffee in KC. The owners are wonderful people and it's got a community vibe where you will get to know the other patrons. When you buy a cup a portion of your purchase goes to helping Ethiopians build libraries for schools as well.

RevoCup was my last and final stop during a 2 day Caffeine Crawl. This means that I had already been to 13 other shops and had drank WAY more coffee than any human should ever consume. Even though I was already wired, I couldn't help but take more coffee samples and espresso shots at RevoCup. They take the time and the dedication to roast their own beans and I love the boldness of their espresso shot. A great place for authentic Ethiopian coffee if you're in the area.

  • Kathryn M.

This is where I get my whole beans. The coffee is roasted regularly in shop right before your eyes (if you happen to come in when Habte is roasting). An extensive selection of beans makes choosing one hard. The selection varies so it's possible to try a dozen different beans. Wonderful selection, focusing on Ethiopian beans. The espresso is good, complex enough to drink on it's own. But holds its own in a latte. Lattes are highly recommended, the latte art is da bomb. Wouldn't go here if I was hungry. Maybe for a yogurt or a house scone.

Today was the first I have ever been here. I asked for a quad espresso. I paid for it, he made it, gave it to me and I got in line for the creamer. I ALWAYS put a little cold milk or creamer in my espresso to cool it down so it doesn't burn my mouth. As I poured a little creamer in my cup he said "do you want a macchiato sir". I said no. He said well espresso doesn't come with creamer. So I take my $4 espresso ($3 at scooters) and walk out vowing to never come back. I have ordered a quad espresso and then I always add a little cold 2% or creamer to cool it down for two years now every day!!!!! Many times the baristas at the coffee shops I go to are the ones that add the cold 2% or cold creamer in it for me. I have NEVER been talk to or told that creamer does not come with espresso. The last thing I want to deal with in the morning while getting coffee is some guy telling me I can't have a half ounce of creamer without paying more. This is not the only coffee shop in the city. Go somewhere where they won't nickel and dime you and treat you like that in front of a room full of people. Go to scooters where they treat their patrons right, have a smile on their face when they see you and truly truly appreciate your business. I can think of no other coffee shop I have ever been to in my entire life that would tell someone they can't have creamer with their espresso while implying that I'm trying to take advantage of a quad espresso versus a macchiato. Give me a break.

Love the coffee here. Excellent flavors and unique food selection. The coffee has always impressed me and the atmosphere is really relaxing. The only complains is that the service is slow. A few times I will order a sandwich and drink. They often make my drink then then serve a few people behind me in line before making the sandwich. When in a hurry it's tough. However, after drinking the coffee, it's worth the wait.

What a wonderful coffee shop! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the decor is lovely. The people who work there are so nice and friendly and take so much care when preparing items. I had a cappuccino and studied there for a few hours. The prices were reasonable and my cappuccino was excellent. I will definitely be back.

I'm a fan of Revocup. I'm not a coffee expert but I sure do drink my fair share, and I've never had a cup here that I didn't enjoy. Even better, though, is the service. The lovely owner not only pulls barista duty but also chats, remembers faces and greets everyone warmly and genuinely. She's recommended a different concoction for me now and again, and I've loved them all. The only drawback is that the place is so popular now, it's sometimes hard to grab a seat but the other patrons are so friendly that hardly seems to matter. Finally, I love the quirky atmosphere. Make sure you look up and check out the gorgeous lighting fixture and the fun ceiling panel paintings.

Close to where I live, Revocup could become my favorite coffee shop. Somewhat hidden in a strip mall, it's not easily visible from Quivira, but it's worth seeking out -- it's in the same small shopping center on the NW corner of College and Quivira as Hen House and the Brazil Market. Inside it's brown and funky and feels like a comfortable old established place. Today I ordered a large latte which was beautifully made by the barista on duty. Very flavorful. They roast coffee, which is available to buy at the shop -- some of it quite pricey but undoubtedly worthwhile for unusual African beans not easily found elsewhere in Kansas City. Update 2/10/2011: I've been in several times since the first review and have been very happy with Revocup! The coffee has been consistently good and well-crafted by the baristas. I only wish they had a wider variety of great baked goods to accompany the coffee (a lack I've found at other K.C. coffee houses, too).

A little bit of Ethiopia in Kansas. The macchiato was just like being at the coffee shops in Addis.

    (5)
  • Michael J.

One of the best cups of coffee you will ever have. Plus a portion of everything they get goes to help Ethiopian coffee growers who get very little in comparison to the middle man who sells the coffee to the retailer. Plus the roast their own beans!

I just discovered Revocup earlier this week...too bad I live in Lee's Summit. Fortunately, I work relatively close and fully intended on making this my usual coffee joint. The owner is so friendly, and you can tell he is passionate about coffee. I've had a latte and an espresso (separate visits)...The espresso may have been one of the best I've ever had and I've spent significant time in Italy. I think I may head over there during my lunch break today :)

I was hit with the delicious smell of beans roasting as I walked in the door; not being a coffee drinker, though, I opted for a chai latte & a scone. Rich, milky tea & light, fluffy bread, oh my. Interior is decorated in warm ochres, small tables, and comfy chairs. Photographs by a local artist hang on the walls. It's warm & inviting... I could see hanging out here for a while with some friends, knitting & having a good gab. The sandwiches looked excellent too, want to try one next time.

  • Rachel P.

Beans roasted in house, homemade scones, and knowledgeable and talented baristas - meaning that they care about the quality of the drink as much as you do. The owner is more than happy to chat with customers about coffee, as it is his passion (and it's refreshing to have an owner be as involved as he is rather than looking at the coffeeshop as simply a business and way to make profit). Definitely one of the best places in the KC area to get coffee.

So, this coffee shop is way to good to not have it reviewed! Formally, PTs Coffee Co., new ownership has been in place for quite a while, only recently changing the name. I am not an espresso expert but I have had quite a few lattes and espresso shots around the city AND I'm putting Revocup at the top. The barista's here...truly are just that! They take their espresso seriously enough to spend time competing against other barista's around the country. While I am partial to a skinny vanilla latte, I have had a few other concoctions from the barista's here including the QUADZILLA which is a Saturday morning must if you have a full day ahead. These guys and gals here can tell you more about the art of a perfect espresso or what roast of beans would best suit your self-described taste. I highly suggest grabbing a bag of beans if you're serious about your coffee or espresso, and take it with to the house!

  • Adam B.

Wow, really? 4.5 stars? I was not impressed. I opted for the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe and the cup I had tasted almost carbonized at first. None of the tasting notes that draw me to this particular bean were present in the cup and tasted flat, scorched, and unremarkable. Not to mention the gal behind the counter pronounced it "Yirgacheffy" WTF, not a big deal, but it's those subtle things that hint towards the aptitude of a café. Not only that, but when I asked for a hand pour, she made a sour face and said that she "could do it, but didn't know what she had". Umm, you have beans, a V60 or similar, and a grinder right? If you're not into coffee, don't work in a café. Lame. While it was (slightly) better than Starbucks, the only thing they might have going for them is if they are the only game in Overland Park. With Quey, Oddly Correct, and Parisi close at hand in Kansas City, I can't see any reason why anyone would make a special trip to Revocup.

Best coffee ever. Love the lattes, sooooo smooth. Habte the owner will tell you all about coffee- why is his so good? He roasts the beans ON SITE. It doesn't get any fresher. Love this place

It tastes like chocolate. It tastes like espresso. It taste like chocolate AND espresso! The best mocha frappe I have ever had (I've had a lot of frappes in my years....) was born at Revocup. The owner is friendly and a freaking coffee artist and there are posters around the shop with coffee and caffeine info for your reading pleasure while you wait. I'm generally fairly generous with reviews, but this place was a religious experience. The coffee gods were smiling when Revocup was born.

It is rare to go into a coffee shop where each pour of espresso is correct. I was thrilled to find a place that is the exception to the rule. One of the best cups of coffee I've had in a long time.

This place is the standard that all coffee houses/shops should be judged. And if they were, many would fall woefully short. The barista/owner hand crafts each and every drink. The owners are a cornucopia (i love that word) of coffee knowledge and lore. And here's the "Ripley's Believe or Not" part....they really do appreciate your business! The second time that I visited this unique establishment was on a Tuesday afternoon around 2:00pm. The first thing you notice when you walk through the door is the smell of freshly roasted coffee beans (uhhhhhh shouldn't all coffee houses/shops have that smell when you walk in?). An older couple was standing at the counter watching in awe as the barista was carefully working his magic. A small line of patrons begin to form but the barista paid no attention; to him a work of art cannot be rushed. After a few minutes I eased my way to the counter and placed my order for a cappuccino. With a smile on his face, the barista took my order, turned around and stepped up to his "canvas". Every "stroke" was done, in expert fashion, right in front of me. As I started to take that fist sip I felt a twinge of guilt, like I was about to destroy someone's work of art that they had made especially for me. But as the smooth and delicate freshly roasted Ethiopian espresso and perfectly layered milk hit my tongue, the guilt quickly turned to pleasure and satisfaction. Revocup is on the NW corner of College and Quivira....right behind the Mickey D's at 110th and Quivira.

I tried this place based on Clark S.'s recommendation and I'm glad I did. Very tasty latte, and I had a discussion with the very knowledgeable owner. They roast all their beans in house and create their own mixes. Upon the owner's recommendation I bought a bag of Ethiopia Amaro Gayo. Brewed some the next morning and was quite impressed. Probably helps that the beans were roasted just a week ago. Great locally owned coffee shop in chain-ridden Overland Park.

So I don't drink coffee, but the tea is always great and piping hot or iced ! The baked goods are scrumptious as well. It is a little dark but livable, and the quiz question of the day always interests me to use their wireless in hopes to find the answer. Over all this is a good quite place to hang out, knit, or read a book.

The impulse coffee drinker that I am makes me want the best of the best when I do drink it. My favorite place was the expresso bar at Nordstrom's until I decided to listen to the Yelpers and try this place. Now, I have a new favorite place when my taste buds yearn for coffee. I like the black and whites. After the gentleman made it he dripped something (I think cream) on top and gently pulled it downward from a circle and made it look like a perfect heart! It was so cool. I was so impressed I didn't want to "break my heart" by drinking it. The taste was awesome. There were several people on their computers, ladies having an afternoon chat and others waiting for their cup of java. Looks like they were doing a good business at all hours of the day.

Best Capuccino in Overland Park. they actually care how they make coffee and where they get it from. educational, enlightening, cozy and beautiful cups of cappuccino. My favorite coffee place for pure coffee!
